{"id":3104,"date":"2011-12-05T15:04:00","date_gmt":"2011-12-05T15:04:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/fastlandstois.wordpress.com\/2011\/12\/05\/it-is-not-all-about-the-money"},"modified":"2011-12-05T15:04:00","modified_gmt":"2011-12-05T15:04:00","slug":"it-is-not-all-about-the-money","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kahlbom.com\/index.php\/2011\/12\/05\/it-is-not-all-about-the-money\/","title":{"rendered":"It is not ALL about the money-"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family:&quot;\">My manager at an old workplace in Denmark has steadily held the position as \u201cbest ever manager\u201d during my career.<br \/>He now has to bow down to a new champion, my current manager.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family:&quot;\">What makes them similar is that they are both ex-army officers with the rank to prove excellence within their respective fields..by far. <br \/>They are both not\u2013too-bad-to-rest-ones-eyes-on and they are both extremely well suited as managers in the civilian sector as well.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family:&quot;\">None of the above are obvious given character traits for army officers so kudos to both of them just for that.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m sure my current manager pisses off people every now and then.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family:&quot;\">He really doesn\u2019t beat around the bush or wait for things to solve themselves.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family:&quot;\">He\u00b4s a doer. Without question.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family:&quot;\">He has taken all the silly managers classes, taken the time to learn how the minds of people in a civilian workplace functions. <br \/>And then he acts.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family:&quot;\">With thought, goal and patience.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family:&quot;\">No screaming, no yelling, no bullying. <\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family:&quot;\">Just pure, clear and rather softly padded authority.<\/p>\n<p>I had my annual salary chat today and I did indeed receive a salary increase.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family:&quot;\">Believe it or not!<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family:&quot;\">Not at all a mind boggling sum, but still.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family:&quot;\">No..the money wasn\u2019t the good thing about the chat.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family:&quot;\">It was that this guy, manager over 250 people, has taken the time to really assess my performance and make suggestions on improvement as well as praise for what I have done really well.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family:&quot;\">This man doesn\u00b4t miss a heartbeat. <\/p>\n<p>All in all: All should have the luxury, at one point or another in their life, to experience management at this level of sophistication.<\/p>\n<p>I have a family to enjoy, gl\u00f6gg to drink and a Christmascards to draw with WeeMan.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family:&quot;\">Until later.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family:&quot;\"><br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"blogger-post-footer\"><img width='1' height='1' src='' alt='' \/><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>My manager at an old workplace in Denmark has steadily held the position as \u201cbest ever manager\u201d during my career.He now has to bow down to a new champion, my current manager.
