It is with a heavy heart that I write these words to honor the memory of Charlie Höglund, who left us on December 30th, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Charlie was so much more than my sister’s husband; he was a beacon of laughter, kindness, and joy in our lives. For over 30 years, I was blessed to have him as part of my world, and he brought light to every corner of it.

Charlie was the only one who could truly make my sister happy to her very soul. He not only healed and strengthened the bond between my sister and me, but he also embraced our entire family with open arms and an open heart. His presence was a gift—one I will always cherish.

Some of my fondest memories are of summer evenings on their American-style porch, sipping wine as Charlie’s gentle guitar playing filled the air. He would share tales of his life, each one more fascinating and heartwarming than the last. His laugh was infectious, and his care for everyone around him made him someone you couldn’t help but love with all your heart.

Charlie had an extraordinary way of making people feel seen and valued. He would let me sing to my heart’s content, never once commenting on how off-key I might be, just so I could revel in the joy of singing. That was Charlie—always putting the people he cared for first, always spreading joy.

Though he has departed this world, I find comfort in imagining him embarking on new adventures—carving paths on the ski slopes and sailing the fair seas with that unmistakable smile on his face. This is how I choose to remember him: guitar in hand, laughter in his eyes, and love in his heart.

I love you, Charlie, and I always will. Your memory will forever be a part of us, woven into the fabric of our lives. Rest in peace, beloved Charlie, and thank you for everything you brought into my world.

Your ever loving sister-in-law, Lena
