Ah, the summer holidays – a time when we dream of two weeks lapped up by Caribbean sun, sippin’ cocktails that taste like heaven in a coconut shell. If only we could afford it. But lo and behold, reality hits us like a dreich raincloud, and we find ourselves back at the grind, nursing a cup of office coffee that couldnae wake a hibernatin’ bear. Aye, the post-holiday blues be real, especially when all we’re met with is the promise of rain, rain, and mair rain til spring finds us again, as snow’s no longer a blessin’ on Gotland.
Here I am, dropped back intae my desk chair, starin’ at spreadsheets that make our eyes cross.
The office coffee tastes like a puddle in the middle of a field, and we can´t help dreaming about a 2 week all inclusive holiday where it´s warm. The only coconut we’re seein’ is the one on our coworker’s desk – and let’s be real, it’s nae nearly as appetizin’.
But don´tlet the rain dampen yer spirits, for there’s a silver linin’ amidst the clouds. We might not be loungin’ on a Caribbean beach, but we’ve got somethin’ even better – family and friends who open their doors, rain or shine. They’ve welcomed us intae their homes, sharin’ stories and makin’ memories, whether it’s wi’ a dram of whisky or a cuppa tea. It’s a blessin’ that’s worth more than any sun-soaked holiday, even if the weather’s nae cooperatin’.
So here’s tae the longing for that sunny (all expences paid) escape, and here’s tae the reality of
Swedish rain – for it’s our homegrown version of adventure. Let’s raise a cup, be it the office brew or a cozy pub pint, and remember that the heartwarming welcome of our loved ones is worth its weight in gold doubloons. Nae matter if it’s rainin’ or pourin’, it’s the company that truly matters, and for that, we’re as thankful as a wee bairn with a bag of sweets. SKÅL and thank you beyond words!
I have “coffee” to sip and stuff to organize…ish.
Until later sweet ones, until later.

Ps I have to admit that we DO live on one incredible island that so many visit for their holiday.
We LIVE here. Grateful!
