Ah, the joys of parenting an almost-14-year-old boy.
Blond and tall, with a temper like one of Daenerys Targaryen’s dragons – what could be more fun?
If you’re anything like me, you wake up every morning to the sound of a dragon’s roar.
Except it’s not a dragon, it’s your son, and he’s not happy about having to get out of bed.
You know the drill: grunts, groans, and maybe a few choice words thrown your way.
It’s like trying to wake up a hibernating bear, except bears are probably easier to deal with.
So, how do you survive the mornings with your almost-14-year-old dragon boy?
Here are a few tips:
- Coffee. Lots and lots of coffee. You’re going to need it to deal with the morning grumpiness.
- Keep your distance. Don’t try to engage with your dragon boy until he’s had a chance to wake up properly. If you’re lucky, he might even speak in complete sentences after he’s had a shower.
- Avoid any mention of school. This is a surefire way to set off your dragon’s temper. Instead, try talking about something he’s interested in – video games, sports, or whatever else he’s into. Even if your mind turns blank and the only sound you hear is that of a flatlining patient. Smile and look interested. Just_do_it.
- Bribery works wonders. Need your dragon to get dressed and out the door? Promise him a trip to his favourite fast-food joint after school. It’s not exactly healthy, but desperate times call for desperate measures.
- Try not to take it personally. Your dragon may be snarling and snapping, but it’s not really about you. It’s just his natural morning state. Remember, he’s still your sweet, lovable son… just not before he’s had breakfast.
In conclusion, raising an almost-14-year-old blond and tall boy with a morning temper like one of Daenerys Targaryen’s dragons may not be easy, but it’s definitely not impossible. With a little patience, humour, and preparation, you can survive the mornings and come out the other side unscathed.
Good luck, fellow dragon trainers!
I have flameproof outfits to try out and coffee to sip.
Until later compadres, until later.
