In November each year, Movember inspires millions of budding mustaches around the world.
Men and their “Mo´s” raise money for , and raise awareness of , prostate and testicular cancer and mental health.
It is ,as an independent global charity, Movembers vision to have a lasting impact on men’s health.
HOW IT WORKS
Movember challenges men to grow mustache for 30 days in November , and thus change their appearance and the perception of men’s health.
In October, registering all Mo Bros at Movember.com , and November 1 they start – with shaven faces – a 30-day trip towards growing a Mo .
The rest of the month, these selfless acts and generous men that we call Mo Bros are living billboards for 30 days.
By growing mustaches increasing the awareness of the often neglected issue of men’s health when their Mo leads to relevant conversations wherever they go .
A crucial part of being a Mo Bro ‘s about raising money for the benefit of men’s health.
Mo Bros donate their face, and in the same way as when you participate in a charity race , they ask family and friends to sponsor their effort.
Movember is not just for men .
The women of Movember are called Mo Sistas . They play a crucial role in Movembers success, by supporting and encouraging the men in their lives to participate.
Mo Sistas registering also Movember.com and participates in the same way as men by raising funds and awareness. In short, it makes Mo Sistas all that Mo Bros do, just without a Mo . More about Mo Sistas HERE
I had myself a chat with Johonnie Björklund who is envolved in Movember:
”What is Movember?
- Movember is a global movement where both men and women donate their faces and time to become a living speakers corner to raise money for prostate and testicular cancer as well as mens metal health.
Why are you involved in Movember?
- I have always had a dream to wear a mustache without the hassle from the ol´ball and chain. No…all jokes aside, isn´t always a good idea to get involved in men´s health?
The office where i work, The Swedish Pensions Agency in Visby, has created a team on www.movember.com and our team name is Pension Team.
All money raised over the website as well as cash-received will be accounted for here.
Why do you want us to get involved?
- I reckon this campaign is an easy and good way to 1) look like a total sap 2) raise almost $152 000 000 for research and other projects around the world.
A small effort well worth it.
Are you growing a mustache?
Ofcourse. Om sporting a ” Undercover brother mustache”
If you were granted 2 wished for november 2013, what would they be?
- 1) That all of us received a double salary paycheck
- 2) That all employees at The Swedish Pensions Agency register @ www.movember.com and donates a dime of two to our team.
I doubt i am alone in my deep admiration of the commitment of the Movember Visby Team.
It shall also be said that they art the most dashing of all gentlemen my dark blues has ever set its gaze upon.
